About Dry Stone Walls

Dry stone walls are so called as they contain no mortar to bind the stone together. Instead they rely on the craftsmanship of the waller to use the appropriate stone in the right place to give the wall its strength.

Dry stone walls have been around for hundreds of years. During the 18th and 19th centuries dry stone walls were used to enclose farmland enabling farmers to control the movement of livestock and other animals.

Dry stone walls have become part of the heritage of our countryside, few places more so than here in the Cotswolds. Modern day wallers are increasingly in demand to build boundary walls and garden features to private homes.
